Howto connect Windows 2000 CD Player with threeTIX

Windows 2000 CD Player (also known as "Deluxe CD Player") stores the information about it's internet servers in the Windows registry.
To teach Deluxe CD Player using other servers than the ones defined by installation, we must change these entries in the registry.

You may use one of the following ways, which connect both to threeTIX and to Urchin:

1st way: download and use PLC
  • Go to www.hinzen.de/plc and download the lastest version of PLC, my CDPlayer PlayList Converter.
  • PLC now supports batched download (as from Deluxe CD Player).
  • Besides this, it has a special feature to verify and set the provider settings for Deluxe CD player.
This is e.g. useful when the current settings are accidentially wrong or lost.
  • The lastest list of providers can be downloaded as well as news about PLC.

2nd way: downloading the INF file with provider logo bitmaps
  • Download the file deluxe-inf.exe from this website by clicking on the link.
  • When asked, select an appropriate path for download and remember that path name.
  • Open your Windows Explorer, change to the path selected before and start the file named "deluxe-inf.exe".
(Due to your Explorer options, the file extension maybe hidden and you only see "deluxe-inf" as name.)
  • Start the file by double-clicking it. It's a self-extracting file - select a temporary path name for the extraction, e.g. "C:\TEMP\" and chose [start].
  • A file named "readme.txt" will be also extracted where you find a copy of this description.
  • Within your Windows Explorer, change to the temporary path and right-click the file named "deluxe-servers.INF".
(Due to your Explorer options, the file extension maybe hidden and you only see "deluxe-servers" as name.)
  • Select [install] from the popup-menu.
(The term [install] may vary as it appears in the language of your windows installation.)
  • The provider logo bitmaps were now copied to your Windows system directory and the registry entries were made. You may delete the extracted files from the temporary path.
  • (Re-)Start Deluxe CD Player, insert an audio CD and select "internet | download track names".

3rd way: downloading a registry file
  • Download the file "deluxe-providers.reg" from this website by clicking on the link.
The latest version is dated 2003-07-06.
  • Users running Deluxe CD player on Windows XP use "deluxe-providers-xp.reg" .
The latest version is dated 2003-07-06.
  • When asked, select an appropriate path for download and remember that path name.
  • Open your Windows Explorer, change to the path selected before and start the file named "deluxe-providers.reg".
(Due to your Explorer options, the file extension maybe hidden and you only see "deluxe-providers" as name.)
  • Start the file by double-clicking it.
  • Chose [ok].
  • (Re-)Start Deluxe CD Player, insert an audio CD and select "internet | download track names".
Retry
If Deluxe CD reports something like
[n] albums were not found.
Do you want to try to download them next time?

please answer [Yes] and retry some days later by using the batch download feature. In general, I can convert and offer the required data soon after their first query.
